(Inspired by Yo La Tengo’s “Blue Line Swinger”)
Sail on through the night.
What are you afraid of finding
In the deep darkness?
Will you tell me what you see?
Maybe not, but I will listen still,
as one listens to the waves
of oceans which carry boats unmoored,
drifting through tempest and doldrums.
You will reach shoreline
on the other side of the wide trackless sea.
Searching, I will see your footprints and follow them to the place,
where underneath a sky of blazing suns,
I will find you standing.
You will make it – I know you will, and I will meet you in that place.
